You know, it’s funny…we’re almost out of this oppressive heat wave (one more day over 100 degrees, maybe) and now there’s a hurricane pointed at us. We don’t get hurricanes. We get the hurricane leftovers from the Gulf of Mexico and occasionally tails of hurricane weather from further south, but this one is currently pointed right at us. Like WTF. Between the global-warming-induced crazy weather (El Nino is coming!) and the nuclear bombs the president wants aimed at us, it looks like a lot of people are going to have to cancel their San Diego vacation plans. Right?
My response to this?

How do you SAY you have dementia without actually SAYING you have dementia? Like that. That’s how you do it. And there should be more calls for his removal. Maybe after the hurricane comes. It’s OK…mostly we’re going to get waves and rain…the hurricane itself is supposed to stay out at sea or break down into a storm or something more benign. Unless you live near or on the ocean or somewhere that might flood.
During all this, I managed to finish ironing the current top together…

Impressive standing-on-chair photo.
And I started stitchdown…

I also found out that In the Wrong Hands is going to Quilt National in May 2027.

I did enter two dye paintings as well, but they are a different animal. I’m hoping to be at QN again, but it’s always right around state testing, which is problematic. And a 3-day weekend. Also problematic because my district likes to control how and when we take time off to an almost insane level. No 3-day weekends unless you’re sick, in which case, you’re requesting a sub at the last minute. Which is silly in May, near the end of the year, when there’s a 3-day weekend. People have weddings and graduations and art exhibition openings to go to. So we’ll see.
The Pope is up for the art exhibition openings though.

True that. Let AI clean my house. I give that up to them. Gladly.
My sweet barn owl left me a gift one night this week.

Oh yes. That is a large owl pellet. Good times.

Some things just need to wander off for a few years and then I’ll deal with them. Maybe.
OK, kids have been building roller coasters, for some definition of ‘building’. Most of them are fine. Some are not deep thinkers though and do stupid stuff. I’m 3/5s of the way through grading packets WHILE they test roller coasters. Tomorrow, I’ll have to record videos of them working, so I need to get as far as possible today on the grading. We’re up to 5 kids suspended, which honestly, has helped. Kids doing stupid things does translate out into the bigger school world, and then they’re not in class anymore. For a while. Makes projects more chill. Sometimes. Anyway, there’s a meeting before school that might be full of defensive folks (usually has at least one) and I have pilates after school…plus a book club meeting. So I might get some homework graded in between that…I might not. And then I’ll be stitching mushrooms down for at least an hour. My goal is to be quilting by the weekend. I’m going to need to buy binding this weekend too. It’s all good…I’m probably dropping multiple balls somewhere that I’ve forgotten about, but they’ll come back to haunt me at some point.
